In the Summer of 2025 the GREAT Market Garden was awarded funding from Greener Gloucestershire's Community Climate Change Fund to create a composting project at our GREAT Market Garden.

Work has begun working with Eddie from Rhizophillia to design a new composting system on the site and a community composting workshop is planned for Spring 2026.

Our volunteer team got stuck in straight away helping to create a wind row strip along with help from Gloucestershire's Master Composters.

By creating our own organic compost in a no-dig system we aim to reduce the amount of carbon dioxide reduced from ploughing, from transporting compost from off site, or from emissions released through the production of artificial fertilizers.
